Both Corian® and Zodiaq®, along with the adhesives and sealants used to install them are Greengrard Indoor Air Quaility Certified® as low emitting materials.

And with the new Corian® Terra Collection, you have a palette of 25 colors to choose from that are certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to contain recycled content and can contribute to MR Credits 4.1 and 4.2 for Recycled Content.

Selected by the editors of GreenSpecr and Environmental Building NewsT. PaperStone is made from cellulose fiber (paper) and a non-petroleum phenolic resin derived in part from a natural phenolic oil in the shells of cashews. No wonder that when looking for a truly "green" product, the editors chose PaperStone.

PaperStone Certified is the only architectural solid surface certified by the Smartwood program of the Rainforest Alliance to FSC standards for using 100% post-consumer recycled paper. In addition, PaperStone plays a role in enabling a project to acquire Leadership in Energy and Environmental (LEED) points towards certification.

There are three series of paper-based PaperStone products:

Original, which is made from 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard

Certified,Certified to FSC standards, is made from 100% post-consumer recycled standard office paper.

The Virgin Series, made from virgin fiber.

A 1" by 60" by 144" slab of PaperStone Certified (versus a regular phenolic composite manufactured from virgin fiber and a regular, commercially available, solvent-based resin) saves:

1233 gallons of water

2.03 million BTU's of energy

131 pounds of solid waste

254 pounds of greenhouse gases

55 pounds of petroleum-based phenol

22 pounds of natural gas-based methanol

Original PaperStone, with a 50% post-consumer recycled content product (versus 100% for PaperStone Certified), saves a similar amount of phenol, methanol and 50% of the water, energy, solid waste and greenhouse gases listed above.

Torzo Surfaces is a US based manufacturer of sustainable surfaces that are ideal for high wear residential and commerical applications. These products are manufactured from agricultural by products and recycled wood materials. Torzo Surface products can be used for vertical applications such as paneling, dividers and cabinets.

Currently, Torzo Surfaces has four different lines of sustainable surface products.

Indure, is a recycled fiber based product that is formaldahyde free. The indure product line has a sleek contemporary concrete appearance that provides a modern look.

Orient, is a recycled chip based product that is SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) certified. Orient, is a unique product that can create both a sleek modern look or an old world rustic look, depending on the application.

Seeta, is made from sunflower seed hulls, and therefore is considered a rapidly renewable resource. This product line is 100% formaldahyde free. Using a unique blend of acrylic resin, the Seeta surface product takes on a "granite" like appearance.

Durum, is made from wheat straw, and like Seeta is considered a rapidly renewable resource product and is 100% formaldahyde free. Durum creates a warm organic and very natural look.

Kirei products are made from rapidly renewable and reclaimed agricultural fiber, with a low-or no-added urea formaldehyde adhesive. Also, formaldehyde has been shown to be a harmful indoor air pollutant present in high levels in many indoor spaces. Using Kirei products can help reduce ambient formaldehyde emissions often found in new construction. Our products utilize low-or no-added urea formaldehyde adhesives to minimize any formaldehyde emissions. All Kirei products will meet California's stringent new CARB air quality standards, as well as qualifying for LEED points for Low Emitting Materials.

Squak Mountain Stone is a Fibrous-cement material comprised of recycled paper, recycled glass, coal fly-ash and cement. Material is hand-cast into "slabs" as an alternative to natural or quarried stone. Resembles soapstone or limestones.

Trinity offers the look of polished granite with earthy colors and small particulates, without the negative environmental consequences that result from mining natural stone.
Trinity's more natural look, as well as its versatility, are what set it part from other recycled glass surfaces. In addition to slabs for countertops and tabletops, Trinity is available in tiles for wall applications and can be molded into sinks (Available late 2007). It can be machined to have a smooth edge and, because of its high glass content, is highly scratch-resistant. As with granite, with proper sealing, Trinity will also resist stains long-term.
Trinity surfaces are individually handcrafted using locally-sourced, post-consumer and post-industrial recycled material.
